Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Anthony Laffor says he is happy at the club and will honour his contract.
The Liberian international has been linked with a move away from the club during the off-season, but says he wants to stay at the club. He has a season left on his deal with the Absa Premiership champions and is focused on playing regularly, after his last campaign was hampered by injury.
Laffor, who showed glimpses of brilliance against Kaizer Chiefs in the Shell Helix Cup at FNB Stadium over the weekend, made just 13 appearances in all competitions last season. He's hoping for more action in the coming campaign.
“That [rumours of leaving] happens every season. I keep my feet on the ground. I am contracted to Sundowns and I respect my contract and I have to honour it. If you notice I don’t pay attention to what people say and I never say anything when the rumours go around,” he says.
“I am happy at Sundowns and I have never told anyone at the club that I am not happy. But when the window comes there’s always things of ‘Laffor wants to leave’. It’s good for media, but for me I am happy at Sundowns and I have to honour my contract.”
While Laffor would not mind ending his career at Chloorkop, he naturally cannot predict the future.
“Sundowns is not a bad club. Who would not want to end their career at Sundowns? I have a year left on my contract, so we will see,” the former SuperSport United player says.
