Former Polokwane City defender Thabiso Semenya is optimistic he’ll find a new home after Black Leopards decided against signing him.
The newly promoted Lidoda Duvha had Semenya on a two-week trial and while things looked promising for the former Platinum Stars ,an, he was unable to secure a deal with the Limpopo outfit.
The 35-year-old played every minute in the Absa Premiership in 2016/17 and missed just four matches the following campaign for City. Despite being one of Rise and Shine’s consistent performers, they did not renew his contract when it expired at the end of June.
Thapelo Tshilo, also a former Rise and Shine player, was training with Leopards, but he was likewise passed over by the club.
“Yes, I was at Leopards, training with them for two weeks. They gave me the impression that they need me in their team. So after a week or two, I asked what’s happening and they said they won’t be able to sign me,” Semenya tells KickOff.com.
“I am searching for a team right now.”
The versatile defender certainly has a lot to offer. He is currently in Johannesburg and will be hoping to get a new home with the coming season getting underway in a couple of weeks.
