Chiefs want to turn draws into wins

Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso has stressed the importance of starting the Absa Premiership season well, so that they do not have to play catch up in the title race.
Chiefs go into the new campaign looking to end a three-season trophy drought and their eyes will definitely be on the biggest prize – the league title. They start the campaign against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, which gives them an opportunity to send out a strong message from the beginning.
Chiefs, who finished third last term, were let down by their many draws in 2017/18. They drew 12 matches, which is the same amount of matches they won all season.
“The MTN8 at the moment will be our first priority, but to get a good start in the league we need to win our first few matches. We don’t want to play catch up like last season, because playing catch up is not the best of things,” the former Free State Stars man said.
“If we can focus on both at the same time [MTN8 and Absa Premiership] it will be a good thing for us. Obviously we want to try win as many games as we can and not draw many like we did last season. We were one of the teams with the most draws last season and we want to turn those draws into wins.”
Amakhosi’s pre-season preparations will continue with a match against Cape Town City in the Mpumalanga Cultural Experience Cup this weekend.
