Transfer controversy between Chippa United and Orlando Pirates over Thabo Matlaba

Posted: 21 July 2018 Time: 09:22

Contrary to Chippa United's announcement that they have signed Thabo Matlaba, KickOff.com has learnt that the defender has not put pen to paper.

The Chilli Boys on Friday announced through their social media that they have acquired the services of Bernard Morrison, Thamsanqa Sangweni and Matlaba from Orlando Pirates.

The Buccaneers then released a statement on their official website to confirm that the club had parted ways with Sangweni, but no word was mentioned on the futures of Morrison or Matlaba.

Now, according to a source close to the former Free State Stars left-back, the player is in fact not keen on making the switch to Port Elizabeth.

"This is the same situation that Chippa had when they announced the signing of Thabo Rakhale before he had actually signed on the dotted line," says the source.

"At the present moment, Thabo is not keen on moving to Port Elizabeth."

Meanwhile, the future of defender James Okwuosa remains uncertain after he was left out of the team's pre-season camp in Johannesburg.
