SuperSport United's new striker James Keene says being close to a few players at the team influenced his decision to join the Tshwane giants.
Keene switched allegiance to SuperSport earlier this month from Bidvest Wits after a two-and-a-half year stay with the Clever Boys.
"It has been pretty easy to come to the team. I know a lot of the boys from before," says the Englishman, who scored 17 goals in 48 appearances for the Students.
"Dean Furman is my neighbour. I played a bit of golf with Bradley [Grobler]. I know Morgan Gould and 'Yeye' [Reneilwe Letsholonyane] and all those guys from Chiefs with Stuart Baxter.
"So the transition has been easy and it feels great. You can focus on football, which is nice."
Keene, who won the league, MTN8 and Telkom Knockout at Wits, adds: "I spoke to Stan Matthews [SuperSport boss] for a long time and Dean Furman as well, and other players, and they told me where the club is going. I felt I wanted to be part of that. It was time for a change.
"I was very happy at Wits, I had a great two years. We won the league and two trophies. It's nice to get a new challenge, new goals and SuperSport is an ambitious club now. I can see them doing well."
