New Brighton Hove & Albion attacker Percy Tau believes going out on loan in the coming season will help him develop and understand the European game.
Tau has left Mamelodi Sundowns to join English Premier League side Brighton on a four-year deal, following weeks of speculation regarding his future.
Tau was not part of Sundowns’ pre-season preparations and coach Pitso Mosimane knew that he had to start planning for life without the reigning PSL Footballer of the Season.
Tau has now secured a dream move to England, but he will be sent out on loan by the side coached by former Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton.
“Going out on loan is always good to help a player develop and get better. It’s new for me to be in Europe, and I’ll get to work on myself and a few things that I need to improve,” he told Brighton's website.
“I’m hoping to get a better understanding of the game from playing there. It’s a different approach to what we’re used to in South Africa. It’s exciting football.
“This move should help me play more international football. I’ll be learning a lot, which will also be good for my country.”
The Bafana Bafana international is looking forward to making many memories with his new club.
“Hopefully I can make some great memories here - I love making memories and I’m so happy to be here.
“I’m very impressed with the facilities, they’re better than what I’m used to. It’s something I expected and it’s a better place to be.”
