Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has given his verdict on star winger Leroy Sane missing out on the 2018 FIFA World Cup ahead of the new season.
Sane was one of the surprise omissions from the Germany national team 23-man squad selection for Russia 2018 after a standout season with the Premier League champions.
And while Die Mannschaft suffered a humiliating first-round exit, Guardiola has offered some advice to the 22-year-old, as they prepare for the 2018/19 season.
"Leroy has to accept that this decision may make him stronger. He's so young and in two years it is another European Championships and then in four years another World Cup," Guardiola said during a press conference during their US tour.
"I think it's the past now. The national trainer decided what’s the best for the national team.
"Leroy has to accept it and move forward. He has the chance to show the national team from Germany and first of all us, he has another season to show his quality.
"He has to improve his game, try to keep the levels he showed last season. We are so happy to have him here."
