Cape Town City have completed the signing of striker Siphelele Mthembu

Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of Siphelele Mthembu from Free State Stars.

Initially it was thought that Mthembu would renew his contract with Ea Lla Koto, but the former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker has made a decision to move to the Mother City to team up with the ambitious Citizens.

The 30-year-old, who has signed a one-year deal with the Benni McCarthy-coached side, scored five goals in 30 appearances for Ea Lla Koto last season and will be hoping to improve on this when the new season gets underway.

Mthembu played for Stars in the Maize Cup last weekend.

He will be competing with the likes of Matthew Rusike, Judas Moseamedi, Nana Akosah-Bempah and Masoud Juma for a place in the starting line-up.
