Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt explains Buyani Sali snub

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has explained why the club decided against signing midfielder Buyani Sali.

Sali trained with Wits after leaving Chippa United at the end of last season, but failed to win a deal with the Students.

Hunt, a four-time PSL winner, confirmed Sali - who scored twice in 14 appearances in 2017/18 - has moved on from Sturrock Park.

"Sali, ja, ja, that's true," Hunt tells KickOff.com.

Hun says he rates the 28-year-old highly but pointed out the Clever Boys have ample options in the middle of the park. The club recently added the likes of Gift Motupa and Cole Alexander to their roster, which already includes Granwald Scott and Daylon Claasen among others in the engine room.

"I was impressed, very impressed, very good player. We've got 10 midfield players (laughs)," Hunt adds.

"No, I'm just saying but we got lots of central midfield players."
