New Orlando Pirates midfielder Vincent Pule is delighted with his warm welcome into the team, describing his transition as “a homecoming of sorts”.
The Buccaneers snapped Pule up from Johannesburg rivals Bidvest Wits on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract in June.
The 26-year-old has since spent over four weeks in pre-season training with his new teammates and coaches, and is pleased with the reception thus far.
“It has been a great experience. I’m loving the team environment. We do everything together from training, analysis and even eating,” Pule told his club's website.
“We are a unit and that is making it easy to gel with the guys and get used to everybody around me. I’m happy here.
“I was made to feel at home from the moment I arrived and I’m amazed at the team spirit and the level of support that I have received from the coaches and the players.”
Being alongside his former Wits teammates Ben Motshwari and Xola Mlambo is undoubtedly a huge help, but Pule has ties with a number of Bucs stars who are making him feel at ease in his new environment.
“So far so good. I have played with some of the guys before – Ben Motshwari and Xola Mlambo from Wits, while Thabo Qalinge and I go back to our Bafana Bafana time together.
“I go even further back with Luvuyo Memela and Thembinkosi Lorch. It’s a homecoming of sorts with all the people around me,” he concluded.
The lanky left-winger has enjoyed a steady rise since his days at then-National First Division side African Warriors, before going on to win the Absa Premiership, MTN8 and Telkom Knockout with the Clever Boys.
He will be hoping to add to his medal tally, with coach Micho Sredojevic looking to help the club end a four-year trophy drought.
