Cardoso: MTN8 a priority for Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso says they will be looking to win the MTN8 to get the season off to a flyer.
Amakhosi endured a tough three seasons with former coach Steve Komphela, going the entire period without a major trophy to display in their cabinet.
They were often mocked for winning pre-season tournaments such as the Maize Cup and Carling Black Label Cup, but they want to turn things around in the coming campaign, starting with the first knockout competition of 2018/19 – the MTN8.
Chiefs last won the competition in 2014/15, which was Stuart Baxter’s last season in charge of the club.
“That’s the first target that we have to hit. It’s the first trophy of the season and it’s a trophy that we need to take seriously,” Cardoso, who was one of Amakhosi’s best performers last season, tells KickOff.com.
“In August we have about seven or eight games. It’s a lot of games and it will be a big month for all the teams. Hopefully we can come away with as many victories as we can, especially with the MTN8. That’s going to be the first task for us and then we will take it from there and just move on with other tournaments,” he adds.
