Mamelodi Sundowns' Thapelo Morena stresses Champions League stakes ahead of AS Togo-Port clash

Mamelodi Sundowns right-back Thapelo Morena says they will do whatever it takes to get their first three points in the CAF Champions League group stages.

Sundowns go into their third Group C match against AS Togo-Port in Lome today, searching for their first victory in the round robin phase after their draws against Wydad Casablanca and Horoya.

The 2016 champions are in a tough position and know that they cannot afford to slip up in the remaining four matches.

“We are second-from-bottom and we have to win our games at all costs. We are going to do our level best to get our first three points. Getting the three points will help us to know where we are heading to,” the former Bloemfontein Celtic player tells

Sundowns travelled to Togo last Thursday to adapt to the conditions in the West African country.

“It’s good that because there’s the fatigue of travelling. So we have enough time to rest and it helps you prepare for the game. I think the break we had was good for us because in our first week of pre-season we looked fresh.”

To prepare for the match, Sundowns played two friendly matches against Botswana Premier League champions Township Rollers, who take on Al Ahly in a Group A match in Alexandria tonight.
