KickOff.com can reveal that Mamelodi Sundowns have acquired the services of young defender Tristan Moses from Kaizer Chiefs.
The 20-year-old centre-back then saw his deal come to an end last month, with The Brazilians moving quickest to snap him up and tie him down with a long-term deal.
With the decision understandably not an easy one, Moses has explained why he opted to trade Naturena for Chloorkop as he looks to take his career in a new direction.
“I’m happy [with the decision]. Sometimes you have to take steps to grow as a player and for your career by accepting new challenges – that’s how I feel about this step,” Moses tells this website.
“It was a very difficult decision to make, I’m not going to lie. Obviously I grew up at Chiefs, and it’s like my home, but moving on is never an easy decision and it had to be done.
“We finished last season on a high, obviously winning the Diski Shield, and from that time offers had started coming in from elsewhere and I knew I would have to make a decision.
“Chiefs did want to keep me, it’s just, in terms of what I’m looking for, I believe Sundowns will give me something that’s more interesting. And the way they approached me was very professional, showing me the direction they would like for me, and my father and I agreed.
“So, I’m taking this step positively and I’m looking forward to seeing where things go for me from here.”
Moses’ development stems from a spell at English Premier League returnees Fulham at Under-7 level, before his family moved back to South Africa. He then joined Ajax Cape Town, before relocating to Johannesburg where he joined amateur club Panorama.
In his later teenage years, Moses was roped in at SuperSport United juniors, before eventually joining Chiefs after being scouted by Zwane at the Nike Hypervenom Shootout in 2015.
