National Under-20 coach Thabo Senong took heart from the fact that his side did not concede on home soil in their Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi on Sunday.
The first leg of the final round of qualifiers ended goalless at Moruleng Stadium in the North West, not the ideal result for Senong’s boys heading to the second leg in Blantyre on Saturday.
“For us this was just the first half. The second half will be in Malawi. We would have liked to score, but now we have a lot of work to do when we go to Malawi. The game is not over, we have to go to Malawi and concentrate and continue to be solid. We need to make sure we don’t concede,” Senong told the media after the game.
“We had moments where were dominated and created chances, [but] luck was not on our side to score goals. We will just continue giving the boys confidence and we will continue working on creating chances in training. We can defend, but we need to score goals. I have no doubt that we will do well away from home.”
