Kaizer Chiefs' new coach Giovanni Solinas has shared his first words since his appointment, saying he hopes to appease the club's supporters.
Following months of wild speculation, Chiefs unveiled their new head coach in unique fashion via the club's official Facebook page on Thursday.
Much to the surprise of the media and supporters alike, former Free State Stars mentor Solinas was introduced as Steve Komphela's replacement at Naturena.
The Italian tactician has since expressed his delight to have joined the Soweto giants, while acknowledging the immense responsibility on his shoulders.
“It’s a big opportunity as Kaizer Chiefs are a big club, not only in South Africa but also on the African continent," commented Solinas on the club's website.
"Coaching a club of this magnitude comes with a big responsibility. I will work hard day and night to make the Kaizer Chiefs family and the supporters happy.”
Meanwhile, club boss Kaizer Motaung has confirmed that Solinas will not occupy a spot on the touchline at the team's Bokone Bophirime Maize Cup outing on Saturday.
"Solinas will sit on the bench as soon as he receives his work permit,” stated Motaung.
