And the 36-year-old feels it's high time the Soweto giants, who finished as runners-up to league champions Mamelodi Sundowns last term, break their silverware drought.

"We are expecting a lot of things from Pirates this season to make us happy and win trophies," says 'Nsimbi', who won the treble with Bucs in 2012 in his first season with the club following his arrival from Golden Arrows.

"It can't still be us who last lifted a trophy. They should start to open their own page.

"What they showed us last season, we want to see more of that, so that we can win something and not finish number two.

"There must be things to show at the end."

Sangweni, the older brother of Sea Robbers midfielder Thamsanqa, retired as a Buccaneer two years ago due to a knee injury.

Pirates, who are currently in Zambia for a pre-season camp, have strengthened their roster with the signings of Brilliant Khuzwayo, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Paseko Mako, Linda Mntambo, Asavela Mbekile, Vincent Pule, Meshack Maphangule, Abel Mabaso and Ben Motshwari.
