Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kabelo Mahlasela is set to make his long-awaited debut for the club after recovering from a lengthy injury lay-off.
Mahlasela has been given the all-clear ahead of this weekend's Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup, where is he likely to get his first run out for Amakhosi.
The 27-year-old joined the club at the start of the year from Bloemfontein Celtic, and suffered a serious knee injury in his first training session following his arrival.
Six months later, the diminutive attacker has finally recovered from his surgery and has joined his teammates in pre-season training, the club confirmed.
"It was difficult [being out injured]. I wanted to show everybody what I could do. Instead, I was out for the rest of the season," Mahlasela told Chiefs' website.
"It’s great to be back in full training with the guys. I want to repay the Kaizer Chiefs supporters and the club’s management for all the support they have given me over the last few months.
"It was hard, but everybody stood behind me, including our supporters whose backing was such a morale boost. It’s now up to me to repay all those people with my performances on the field."
The Glamour Boys will meet ABC Motsepe League side Buya Msutha in their opening clash of the one-day pre-season tournament at the James Motlatsi Stadium in Orkney on Saturday (10h00), and the ex-Orlando Pirates man is relishing his bow in the Gold and Black.
"I am looking forward to the Maize Cup. I will be ready and give it my best if I am given an opportunity to play in our game against Buya Msuthu,” he added.
Should they overcome their lower league counterparts, Chiefs will face the winner of the second semi-final between Chippa United and Free State Stars on the same day at 16h00.
