Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero believes the club has taken a massive step towards becoming the biggest club in world football with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo's €100m transfer to Juventus marks a club-record signing for the Juve and a Serie A transfer record - as well as a record sale from Real Madrid.

And the Bianconeri all-time record goalscorer believes the high-profile nature of the 33-year-old will have an incredible impact on Italian football as a whole - while bringing them closer to their goal of becoming European champions once again.

"His signing is very good for Juventus and excellent for Italian football," Del Piero told Sky Sport Italia. "It will be wonderful for the whole city and for Italian football to enjoy everything he can still do.

"Juventus want to be recognised as one of the best clubs in the world and to win the Champions League again, and that is all possible with Cristiano.

"People are talking about Juventus, Turin and Italy all over the world because of Cristiano's signing," he added.

"He brings his own brand and has obvious quality. He has hunger and desire to be the best and lead the team to victory."
