Kaizer Chiefs juniors and Amajimbos clash in preparatory friendly

Posted: 11 July 2018 Time: 08:00

Kaizer Chiefs' Under-18s met with the South African national Under-17 men's team on Tuesday in a preparatory friendly at Naturena.

The two sides played four quarters of 45 minutes each, with both coaches getting a good view of their respective troops ahead of upcoming tournaments.

Amakhosi are preparing for the Engen Knockout Challenge, which is set to kick off on July 27, while Amajimbos will be in action in the U-17 COSAFA Cup commencing this weekend.

"The scoreline wasn’t important. We were both looking for a competitive game," Chiefs' youth coach Sundra Govinder told his club's website.

"I was happy with the tactical behaviour of my side as well as the physical aspects of the players.”

Chiefs currently have three players in the Amajimbos fold, with Bontle Molefe, James McFarlane and Balakasi Mthokozisi turning out for Molefi Ntseki's side.

The COSAFA Cup will be staged in Mauritius between July 15 - 27, with the Engen Knockout Challenge Johannesburg leg set to take place at the Marks Park Sport Complex.
