Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has highlighted the technical team's intentions ahead of their pre-season camp in Zambia.
The Bucs are off to Ndola, where they will be based for the next week, as they step up preparations for their 2018/19 domestic and continental campaigns.
Having just returned from a seven-day camp in Nelspruit, 'Micho' has outlined the importance of taking the necessary steps to prepare the team for the challenges ahead.
"We are in the building phase of our pre-season. This is the stage where we lay down the foundation for the season that lies ahead,” Sredojevic told his club's website.
"We had a successful trip to Nelspruit, where we got to blend the old and new players together, and now we are off to Zambia where we’ll continue to strengthen all departments by exposing them to different playing conditions and, of course, stronger opposition."
Pirates will indeed face stronger opposition, with a friendly match lined up against Congolese giants TP Mazembe at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Thursday.
This fixture will be preceeded by a clash with local Zambian Premier League side Forest Rangers.
The team is set to return to Johannesburg next week, before the club hosts its end-of-season awards for the 2017/18 campaign.
