Real Madrid's Luka Modric on Cristiano Ronaldo imminent transfer to Serie A champions Juventus

Posted: 9 July 2018 Time: 09:00

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has opened up on the imminent exit of the 'best player in the world' Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is widely expected to complete a sensational switch to Juventus, with just the transfer fee negotiations and image rights holding up the imminent deal.

However, Modric feels his teammate will remain at the LaLiga giants, despite the widespread media coverage of the 33-year-old ending his nine-year stay at the Bernabéu.

"I don't think he's going to leave, and I'd like him to stay," he told AS. "Let's see what happens."

"I don't think he's going to leave, and I'd like him to stay because he's the best player in the world.

"I think he's going to stay; that's my opinion," the 32-year-old added. "It would be great if he did, because I can't imagine him at any other club."
