American-based South Africans had mixed fortunes in their respective league encounters played over the weekend.

THEMBI KGATLANA/ LINDA MOTHLALO/ JANINE VAN WYK
Van Wyk made her 15th appearance of the season, and Mothlalo her 12th, as American club Houston Dash went down to second-on-the-log Seattle Reign, blowing a 1-0 lead to eventually succumb to a 3-1 defeat. Kgatlana was an unused substitute on the bench. The result leaves Dash in seventh place on the log after 15 matches.

LINDO MFEKA
A second yellow card for a challenge in the middle of the park saw Mfeka sent off on 42 minutes as Reno 1868 headed into the break both a man and a goal down against Seattle Sounders II. Yet a superb second-half display saw his side overturn the deficit to claim a 2-1 victory, making it 15 games unbeaten in the league, as they temporarily jumped up to third on the USL table after 19 games.

LEBOGANG MOLOTO
Moloto made his 16th league start of the campaign for Nashville in what was set to be tough encounter against table-toppers Cincinnati FC, who has South Africa’s Alan Koch as their coach. The two sides were evenly matched and could not be separated at full time, playing out a goalless draw, leaving Nashville fifth on the log after 16 games, eight points behind Cincinnati.
