PSL giants target striker Rantie

KickOff.com has learnt that Mamelodi Sundowns have identified former Orlando Pirates striker Tokelo Rantie as a potential replacement for Percy Tau.

English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion have reportedly tabled a R50-million bid for PSL Footballer of the Season Tau, who is yet to report for pre-season training at Chloorkop.

According to a source close to Sundowns, the club have made contact with Rantie with the intention of luring the Bafana Bafana international to Tshwane.

"Sundowns has made contact with Tokelo Rantie," says the source.

"They are ready to make an offer."

The 27-year-old Rantie is currently clubless after walking out on Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi towards the end of last year.

Masandawana will next contest a friendly rematch against Township Rollers in Gaborone, Botswana on Saturday.

Pitso Mosimane's men will afterwards resume their CAF Champions League Group C campaign with a trip to AS Togo-Port on July 17.
