Ajax Cape Town assess ex-Bloemfontein Celtic fullback Cheslyn Jampies

Posted: 5 July 2018 Time: 09:00 has established that former Bloemfontein Celtic defender Cheslyn Jampies has resurfaced at Ajax Cape Town in search of a deal.

Jampies had a short spell at Richards Bay FC last season, playing six games for the National First Division side after joining them in October 2017.

“I believe he [Jampies] had a one-on-one with the coach [Muhsin Ertugral] to ask if he can train with the team,” a source close to Ajax tells this website.

“The next thing Jampies was running around on the field and training with the team.”

The 28-year-old ex-Jomo Cosmos fullback, who earned a Bafana Bafana call-up two years ago, has barely played since leaving Celtic in November 2016 following a disciplinary hearing.

Ajax, who have fought their way back into topflight contention through the courts, recently confirmed the departure of Travis Graham, Neo Makua and Tendai Ndoro, as well as former loanees Yannick Zakri, Siyanda Zwane, Rheece Evans, Fagrie Lakay and Tercious Malepe.
