Buyani Sali working towards a permanent deal at Bidvest Wits after starting training with the Students

Bidvest Wits look set to sign midfielder Buyani Sali after he started training with the team on Saturday.

Sali is currently a free agent after parting ways with Chippa United at the end of last season.

According to a source close to The Clever Boys, the Cape Town-born midfielder has arrived in Johannesburg with the intention of signing on with the Gavin Hunt-led side.

"Sali is here in Johannesburg. He trained with Wits on Saturday," the source tells

"It looks likely he will sign (with Wits)," adds the source.

Meanwhile, Wits look set to start the new season without the services of defenders Bongani Khumalo and Nazeer Allie after the club chose not to extend their contracts.

The future of Wits skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo also remains uncertain, with Orlando Pirates reportedly working towards signing him ahead of the 2018/19 PSL season.
