Siphelele Ntshangase has an opportunity to make the no.10 at Kaizer Chiefs an iconic jersey

The jersey number 10 has never really been big at Kaizer Chiefs, but can Siphelele Ntshangase finally make the jersey great?

The number 11 and 12 jerseys are better known for the greatness they carry at the club, not the number 10.

In the number 11 jersey, Chiefs had the likes of Teenage Dladla, Jabu Pule (now Mahlangu), Scara Ngobese and Knowledge Musona. The number 12 jersey was worn by legends such as Ace Ntsoelengoe, Ace Khuse and Thabo Mooki, midfield maestros who made the game look easy. The number 15 was made famous by Doctor Khumalo and no one has been given the honour of wearing it since.

Now, with the new season just over a month away, former Black Leopards and Baroka FC midfielder Ntshangase has been given the number 10 jersey.

When he joined Chiefs in January there was a lot of expectations from the supporters and he did not make it easy for himself by saying he would deliver champagne passes for his teammates. We did not get to see the champagne passes from the enterprising midfielder, but he has an opportunity to start afresh in 2018/19.

Chiefs have been desperate to have someone to provide many assists other than Siphiwe Tshabalala and Ntshangase has the potential to do that.

Having a pre-season with the club will be good for him, as he will understand his teammates more and the system of the coach Amakhosi will appoint.

There’ll no doubt be pressure on Ntshangase to deliver.
