Kaizer Chiefs striker Leonardo Castro believes a good pre-season is essential if the Glamour Boys are to bounce back this campaign.
The Soweto giants are hoping to end a three-year trophy drought in 2018/19 and make an impression in Africa after qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup with a third-place finish in the Absa Premiership.
Caretaker coach Patrick Mabedi is still overseeing the side as Amakhosi search for a replacement for Steve Komphela, who resigned in April shortly before his contract was due to expire. He has since taken over the reins from Veselin Jelusic at Bloemfontein Celtic.
Castro, who spent most of the off-season in his native Colombia, will be expected to raise his output after only netting three times since his January arrival from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs will hope the signing of fellow ex-'CBD' member Khama Billiat from Downs will help in this regard.
"I enjoyed my holiday," Castro told his club's website
"Now it’s time for pre-season.
"Having a good pre-season is half the work done.”
Meanwhile, he backs La Tricolor to advance to the last-16 of the World Cup today at the expense of West Africans Sengal.
"We will go through," he added.
