SuperSport United midfielder Sipho Mbule has expressed his wish to one day lift the Absa Premiership trophy, and believes he and Teboho Mokoena can drive the club forward.
Matsatsantsa have built up a reputation of churning out young talent, with the likes of European-based duo Kamohelo Mokotjo and Kermit Erasmus amongst their list of graduates.
At present, the Tshwane side boasts the talent of Mbule and Mokoena – two rising central midfielders who have been tipped to become future Bafana Bafana assets.
Mbule, 20, has formed a promising partnership with his 21-year-old teammate and has every belief that together they can return the three-time league champions to their former glory.
“I think Teboho and I can be the future of the club in midfield because we grew up together and I played with him at the Harmony Academy,” Mbule said.
“We played together when we won the Engen Knockout Challenge in 2014 and 2015, and he’s also from Bethlehem so we come a very long way together.”
Mbule adds that graduating from the U-17 Engen Knockout Challenge is what has aided his progress, and is now eyeing his maiden league title in the near future.
“When I played in the Engen Knockout Challenge in 2015, the SuperSport United scouts discovered me,” said Mbule.
“The Engen Knockout Challenge prepares you for the level of competition you will face when you go to places like Johannesburg or Cape Town or KwaZulu-Natal. It’s where you meet other good players of your age group.
“Since my debut in the Premier Soccer League, I felt I was ready, working hard at training to improve my technique. One day I’d like to win the league with SuperSport United.”
