Cape Town City newcomer Riyaad Norodien has explained his return to the Mother City and has given an indication as to what fans can expect of him at the club.
Norodien completed a full-time switch from Orlando Pirates, who announced the move 10 days ago before it was confirmed by the Citizens on Friday.
The 23-year-old winger has now returned home on a five-year deal, after spending just two years away following his move from Ajax Cape Town to the Buccaneers in 2016.
After spending the second half of last season on loan at relegated Platinum Stars, the former South Africa junior international has explained his decision.
“You know what they say, ‘when it calls you, you have to answer’– well, they called and I answered, and I’m glad to be back at home,” Norodien told his new club.
“The two years in Jo’burg did a lot to me – it made me stronger. I’m still the same person, but just a better version of myself.”
Norodien will next season be competing with the likes of Ayanda Patosi and Craig Martin for a spot out on the right flank, but says he is happy to add depth to Benni McCarthy’s squad.
“You can expect someone that’s hungry and who will work for the team. I’m just adding on to the depth in the team,” he added.
