PSL clubs enquire over former Bloemfontein Celtic coach Veselin Jelusic

Posted: 15 June 2018 Time: 13:40

Following his resignation from Bloemfontein Celtic on Thursday, PSL clubs have already expressed interest in coach Veselin Jelusic's services.

After much speculation and denials, Jelusic's official departure from Celtic was yesterday confirmed by his agent Ivica Stankovic.

The Serbian tactician spent just one season at Phunya Sele Sele and led the club to an 11th-place finish on the Absa Premiership log, missing the top eight by just one point, and the Telkom Knockout final.

He swiftly made a name for himself after steering the club to third spot within his first three months at the helm, subsequently picking up the Coach of the Month award for October.

The former Angola and Botswana national team tactician has since attracted interest in his services from the PSL and elsewhere in Africa, according to his representative.

"He is currently back home on vacation, but we have contacts in South Africa and there's also one from outside," Stankovic tells

"There's two clubs that have made initial contact [in the PSL] and asked if he's free. I said yes he is and they said we'll talk, so I said okay."

Aksed whether Kaizer Chiefs are one of the clubs that have expressed an interest, Stankovic replied with a resounding "No", while he refused to comment further when quizzed over SuperSport United's intent.

Amakhosi have yet to finalise their appointment of a replacement for Steve Komphela, while Matsatsantsa have a head coach vacancy following Eric Tinkler's exit in March.
