Pep Guardiola has officially responded to Manchester City legend Yaya Toure's outburst over his alleged 'problems with African players' after initially refusing to comment.

Last week, Toure sensationally suggested that the former FC Barcelona manager was 'jealous of him' and clearly had a problem with African players which prompted his exit at Barca and more recently at City.

In a war of words between the Ivory Coast legend his agent Dimitri Seluk and Guardiola, the Spaniard took a cautious approach initially - but he's since called out Toure over the sensational claims.

"It's a lie and he knows it," Guardiola stated to TV3. "We were together for two years and now this is when he says it.

"He never told me face to face."
