Pitso Mosimane asserts his commitment to Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 8 June 2018 Time: 20:30

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he has no intention of leaving the club for greener pastures, despite having won seven titles in the last five years.

Mosimane is undoubtedly one of the most successful South African coaches in history, having lead Sundowns to three league titles, two domestic cups and two continental crowns.

Since his arrival at Chloorkop, which came during dire times when the club were facing possible relegation at the halfway mark of the 2012/13 season, ‘Jingles’ has not finished one full season without winning a trophy.

He may have recently hinted at the possibility of taking a break from the game, in order to switch off and spend time with his family, but Mosimane says he is not yet tired of coaching the same club.

“For me it is normal [to be at one club for many years] because I have only coached two PSL clubs through my career,” Mosimane says in the latest KICK OFF Magazine (Issue 494).

“I was at SuperSport United for seven years, and then from 2007 to 2012 I was with Bafana Bafana. I don’t like hopping around. I like to stay, especially when you are loved and people show you that they love you. When you are loved, you stay.

“Sometimes you think the grass is greener on the other side when it is not. So I have stayed where I am happy and feel comfortable because Mamelodi Sundowns looks after me.”

With all but the elusive MTN 8 trophy still missing from his trophy cabinet with Sundowns, the former Bafana Bafana assistant says he has not been tempted to take up a new challenge in another country as yet, but is not thinking of doing so as he is ‘happily married’.

“You will never know because I mean, I don’t know … probably the offer has never come.

You have to understand, I am not even thinking about that. I am happy here. I’m a happy guy,” he adds.

“It is like being married to your woman and then you start thinking about pursuing another woman. What is your issue here, my man? Are you happy there in your marriage or not?

“So, it is not about what is available, but about being happy where you are.”
