Nigeria suffer 1-0 defeat to Czech Republic in final 2018 FIFA World Cup friendly fixture

Nigeria suffered their second consecutive defeat in their final 2018 FIFA World Cup warm-up fixture with a 1-0 scoreline against Czech Republic at the Rudolf-Tonn Stadium.

After the 2-1 defeat to England this weekend, the Super Eagles were aiming to end their preparations for Russia on a positive note.

However, former Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas 25th minute goal damaged morale further, as he profited from a lapse in concentration from the African side's backline.

Despite an equal opening quarter of the first-half, Kalas was in the right place at the right time to punish teenage goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, who is expected to be Gernot Rohr's number one at the global showpiece.

The African giants showed some promise after going behind and gained ascendancy in possession, but their decision making in the final third often let them down.

Chelsea utility-man Victor Moses came closest to finding the equaliser in the 67th minute of the encounter but the former Premier League title winner lost his balance and failed to test Tomas Vaclík.

Nigeria's next fixture will be their Group D opener against Croatia on June 16.
