South Africa goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse believes it is an exciting time for the national team and hopes they can stamp their authority on the COSAFA Cup, starting with this afternoon's clash against Madagascar.
Stuart Baxter's men are currently preparing for this afternoon's clash, where Bafana Bafana come into the tournament at the quarter-final stage.
And SuperSport United keeper Pieterse is confident of a strong showing from the South Africans, given their plentiful preparations leading up to the encounter.
"I think it's going to be a really exciting game. I think we've prepared well; the technical team have given us all the ammunition we need for the game.
"The guys have been really looking forward to the game and, like I said, preparations have been going well and it's an exciting time for us as there's a lot of youngsters coming through with a lot of talent.
"So it's definitely looking very good for the country and Bafana."
Bafana's opponents today, Madagascar, may have an advantage over Baxter's men due to their match fitness, having already contested three Group A matches, winning two and drawing one.
However, Pieterse believes that may play against Barea, given the fact they will play a fourth game in seven days.
"There could be a lot of pros and cons towards the game, but I think, looking at how things will pan out, that either they'll be tired or either they'll be sharp," the keeper said.
"So we just need to be prepared for whatever they throw at us, and we need to know what we have to do, and obviously that's to ustilise every strength we have in the team and go through to the next round."
