Tshepo Tema insists he holds no grudges against Polokwane City

Posted: 2 June 2018 Time: 18:00

Tshepo Tema says he will be forever grateful to Polokwane City for introducing him to PSL football, even though their relationship took strain towards the end of his stay in Limpopo.

The 29-year-old Zebediela-born centre-back has just signed a two-year deal with newly crowned Nedbank Cup champions Free State Stars.

Tema reportedly tried to force his way out of Rise and Shine and was frozen out of the team before his contract with the club expired at the end of 2017/18

"I'm happy because I'm going to play again you see," Tema tells

"Ja, it was very tough but I didn't give up. I was telling myself that one day things will be okay. I knew that my situation won't last forever. It was a temporary situation and every day when I woke up I was praying and I knew it that God will answer my prayers.

"I was training with the MultiChoice team. You know I don't want grudges, so whatever happened happened ... So, I love Polokwane City and I will remain City at heart. I thank them for the opportunity they have given me, and for making me the person I am today. God must bless them for that.

"Even though my situation was bad, but I don't hold grudges against them, and I'm not fighting them. So whatever happened happened, it's water under the bridge. Polokwane City will always be in my heart because it made me who I am today and thanks for that.

"I wanted a change of teams as I wanted to grow as a player. I'm happy as Free State Stars is a good team and you see they've just won the Nedbank Cup, so it won't be easy for me. But I will try to push to be in the first eleven. I also want to win a cup with this team."

Tema says the prospect of playing under Belgian coach Luc Eymael again is what made him choose 'Ea Lla Koto' over other interested clubs like Ajax Cape Town, AmaZulu and Platinum Stars.

"I worked with coach Luc before, me and him we have an understanding. And he is a coach that motivates you, he is honest. He can easily notice if you are not okay and he will tell you to do this and that. I have played so many games under him at Polokwane City.

“Ajax, AmaZulu and Platinum were also interested in my services. But I have signed for two years with Stars."
