Bloemfontein Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco has reiterated the club has not been sold.

A report that suggested Celtic had been sold and could relocate to Kimberley caused alarm to many in the City of Roses, with Phunya Sele Sele later slamming the veracity of the story. Celtic is up for sale, but a buyer has not been secured.

Mangaung Mayor Olly Mlamleli was due to sit down with Celtic's management to discuss the matter, but the meeting was postponed indefinitely.

Konco insisted no deal has been reached.

"The chairman [Max Tshabalala] went and made the statement. Unfortunately [a] reckless and irresponsible journalist made the story that the club has been sold to Kimberley and there is no such [thing]," Konco said.

"The club is for sale but has not been sold."

Despite the uncertainty, Konco says preparations are going ahead for the new season.

"We have made an announcement about our technical sponsor. We will be announcing our sleeve sponsor soon. We will also be announcing players we have acquired in the next coming weeks."
