Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says it is unlikely goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni will be with the club next season.
Ngobeni has impressed on successive loan spells for Nedbank Cup champions Free State Stars, and has made it clear he wants regular football in 2018/19.
However, the 29-year-old faces stern competition for game-time at Chloorkop with the likes of Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene at Mosimane's disposal.
"Thela has done well. I'm so happy for him because we are not giving him [a chance in] the starting line up," Mosimane said.
"So really fighting to bring him back if he asks you a question, 'Are you going to play me?' What are you going to say?
"Ahead of Denis we will see but to bring him back I don't know, I don't think it is in our plan."
Mosimane said the Brazilians, who are in the group stages of the CAF Champions League, have to free up space for new signings.
"We need to release players and we got to sign players. It is like that in football. If you don't release, you can't bring in. Sometimes we have that thing of saying, we need numbers.
"Look at our squad, you can even see who plays. The league, the cups, the Champions League, you can see who plays. Fourteen players who feature prominently and I'm not saying the others are not helping.
"But we are like Barca, Real Madrid and Wydad Casablanca; those guys play so many games but if you can see the pattern you know who is playing."
