Luis Suarez is hopeful that Egypt superstar Mohamed Salah will be fit to face Uruguay in their opening FIFA World Cup clash as he 'wants to play against the best'.
Salah, 25, looked set to miss the global showpiece after suffering an injury in the UEFA Champions League final, but the Egyptian FA have since confirmed he'll recover in time to feature in Russia.
However, the Reds star who scored 44 goals across all competitions is unlikely to start against the South American outfit, which the FC Barcelona star has bemoaned.
"Regarding Salah, the reality is that no-one is happy when a colleague suffers an injury, even more so when that happens in a match as it did, just before a World Cup," he told reporters, as quoted by FourFour Two.
"He is in a difficult situation, but I've consistently said I always want to play against the best to demonstrate that Uruguay are better.
"I would love him to have a good recovery and enjoy the World Cup. He is in the same situation as me four years ago and I don't wish this on anyone."
The rest of Group A comprises hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia.
