Posted: 30 May 2018 Time: 20:00

Mamelodi Sundowns star forward Percy Tau has refused to miss out on the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup next month despite Bafana Bafana’s failure to qualify.

The 23-year-old was the big winner at the PSL Awards on Tuesday evening – picking up the PSL Footballer of the Season, Player’s Player of the Season and Top Goal Scorer accolades.

With The Brazilians currently on a short break amid their CAF Champions League group stage campaign, Tau is currently preparing for his mid-year exams.

Asked about a possible transfer to Europe in the coming weeks, the Sundowns youth graduate insisted his focus is currently on his studies before revealing his plans to jet out to Russia, in order to experience the global football showpiece live and give himself a taste of what he is missing out on.

“At the moment, the only thing I have to go and do is to go and study for my exams. I’ll talk about football when I get back from the World Cup – I’m going to the World Cup,” Tau said.

“I’m going to experience what I’ve missed out on, to feel the success  from up close so that it makes more sense.”

It is thought that Tau will be accompanying 'Downs head coach Pitso Mosimane, who last night also revealed plans to spend a few days at the World Cup during their short break.
