Black Leopards determined to gain promotion with victory over Jomo Cosmos in play-offs

Posted: 30 May 2018 Time: 12:29

Black Leopards manager Tshifiwa 'Chief' Thidiela says the team will go all out today against Jomo Cosmos to earn promotion to the Absa Premiership.

Leopards will join NFD champions Highlands Park in the topflight next season if they beat visiting Cosmos at Thohoyandou Stadium in their final play-offs fixture.

"Ja, it's just to go and fight. I mean it's not going to be easy, it's a very difficult time," Thidiela tells KickOff.com ahead of the 15h00 kick-off in Limpopo.

"We've been in this situation before, we don't wanna find ourselves depending on goal difference. But we know, like you have seen in the past matches, that no match is easy."

Thidiela says he doesn't think playing today's game in Venda will give Lidoda Duvha any advantage over Ezenkosi.

"Not really, anywhere you play you can turn it around and take it to your advantage. I mean when we played in Vosloorus 80 percent of the stadium was our supporters, same thing when we were at Moruleng.

"I think the issue is being professional enough to be able to handle everything, everywhere. The only difference is the pressure will be even higher because we are obviously playing at home. But you know the situation where you take that pressure and turn it into something positive and make sure that you succeed."

Thidiela says he has been impressed with the way the play-offs have gone so far.

"You know it's football, I don't think it's anything out of football to complain about this and that, about the play-offs or anything. I know people were complaining because of the decision that was taken by the fourth official when we had a foul that was turned back and made to a corner that led to a goal [against Cosmos]. But these things, they happen in football. We are not going to worry ourselves about other factors. The issue is to go and focus on the issues in the field of play and play our part, and pray that everything comes out our way.

"Like I said, we need to get a win to make sure that it's safe and dry. Because to get a draw we will still have to wait now and see what happens between Platinum Stars and Jomo Cosmos. And it's gonna be very difficult for us because that match will become non-competitive because if we win or if we draw, Platinum Stars is completely out. So Jomo will be playing against a team that is already dead, so that will make things very difficult for us. So we have to guarantee ourselves of what we need - we need to win outright."
