Former University of Pretoria midfielder Ronald Ketjijere feels Namibia has a good balance of youth and experience for the COSAFA Cup.

Ketjijere will lead Namibia when they take on Zambia in the quarterfinals in Polokwane on Saturday, as they look to edge themselves closer to glory, was was the case in 2015. He feels the Brave Warriors have what it takes to go all the way in the competition.

“The spirit is very high, we have some new guys and youngsters that have joined. The preparations have been going well, the team looks good,” Ketjijere told the COSAFA website.

“It is the end of the season and everybody has been playing for their clubs, so we shouldn’t have an issue with fitness.

“They are here now to represent the national team, which is up a level, so we are pushing for the last few days. We are doing a lot of tactical work.

“We want to do well in the COSAFA Cup, but we have a challenge as we are facing Zambia, who can call a strong squad. It will be a good platform for both teams to test each other’s strengths and see their weaknesses.

”We have to take one game at a time and see how far we can go, our aim is to lift the trophy.”

Ketjijere was the captain when Namibia won the COSAFA Cup in 2015.

“The squad is more or less the same, though there are a few more youngsters. We have a good balance, a lot of speed. The senior players must provide guidance to the young players on and off the field.”
