Bevan Fransman confirms he has left Maritzburg United

Bevan Fransman says leaving Maritzburg United was one of the toughest decisions he’s had to make in his career.

Fransman confirmed that he has left the Team of Choice after a fantastic campaign with the club in the past season. He said his goodbyes to the team after the Nedbank Cup final defeat to Free State Stars almost a fortnight ago.

Fransman, who was nominated for the Absa Premiership Defender of the Season award, did not want to say where he is heading to, but rumours are that Cape Town City and SuperSport United are interested in his services.

Fransman joined Maritzburg in 2016 and went on to become their most important player at the back, using his experience to guide some of the younger players in the team.

“I said my goodbyes to the team in the change room after the final and I thanked everybody at the club. There’s no hard feelings between the two parties, we move on and that’s the nature of football. You move on and attack the next venture as usual,” the former Kaizer Chiefs defender tells

“It’s probably one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my career. It’s obviously not easy to walk away from this team, but you look at a new venture.”

The 34-year-old believes he still has a lot to offer.

“Playing-wise I still have a bit to offer. I am definitely going to give it my all, no matter where it’s going to be.”
