Winning the Absa Premiership title is memorable for any player, but it was extra special for Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lucky Mohomi.
Born in Mamelodi, Mohomi is one of very few team members from the township along with George Lebese and Thokozani Sekotlong.
Even though he only featured twice in the past season, Mohomi says it was a dream come true to get his hands on the silverware – the first domestic trophy in his career.
Mohomi spent most of the first half of the season nursing a knee injury and struggled to break into the team when he recovered.
“The feeling is something I can’t even describe at the moment, I don’t have words for it. I came to Sundowns to win titles and winning the league is the most important thing. I am happy that I was part of the squad that won it. I am grateful,” Mohomi, who grew up as a Kaizer Chiefs supporter, tells KickOff.com.
“I won’t lie, I grew up as a Chiefs supporter, but since Sundowns is a team from the township they always caught my eye and I have wanted to be part of the team. It’s the eighth time Sundowns wins the league and I am happy to be part of that history.”
