Former Black Leopards and Platinum Stars midfielder Wonder Nhleko believes Swaziland has what it takes to win the COSAFA Cup.
The 37-year-old is the oldest player in the Swaziland squad and would love to win a title with his country.
Nhleko, who made his COSAFA Cup debut in 2002, feels they have assembled a strong enough squad to compete for honours. Swaziland will begin their campaign in the quarterfinals against Lesotho on Saturday.
“We have better chances to win the COSAFA tournament because we are in fine form. We also have a mixture of senior and young players.
“My personal goal is helping the team achieve good results by providing assists. It’s high time we win it,” the Mbabane Swallows midfielder told the COSAFA website.
Despite nearing the end of his career, Nhleko feels he can keep going and did not want to rule out playing in the competition again next year.
“As long as I get a national call-up, I will honour it. Retirement is the last thing in my mind at this stage,” said the former Black Leopards man, who is participating in the CAF Champions League group stages with Swallows.
Nhleko is in good form going into the COSAFA Cup and will be hoping he can lead his country to glory.
