SuperSport United have made their first signing ahead of the 2018/19 season in the shape of an Amajita defender from National First Division club Ubuntu Cape Town.

Ubunta have confimed the sale of South Africa Under-20 international Luke Fleurs to Matsatsantsa on a long-term deal, after the parties agreed on terms.

The 18-year-old from Mitchells Plain made his NFD debut just last season, and has already caught the eye of the Tshwane-based outfit.

"Ubuntu Cape Town FC’s young Amajita defender Luke Fleurs, will be joining SuperSport United on a long-term deal, after the two clubs and player have agreed terms," read a statement on the club's website on Tuesday morning.

Fleurs, who was part of Thabo Senong's recent squad that beat Mozambique in the U-20 AFCON qualifiers, is relishing the opportunity of turning out in the Absa Premiership alongside some of his heroes.

“I am excited for this new challenge because it was always my dream to play in the PSL, especially alongside players like Morgan Gould and Clayton Daniels who I’ve looked up to as a youth player,” he said.

“My time at Ubuntu has been a really good experience for the past six years, and they have done a lot for me, providing a quality school and football education and especially keeping me on the right road.

“Ubuntu is about more than football, and they have challenged me to live well and to be a leader, which I hope to live up to.

"I can only thank God, the Ubuntu family and, of course, the Fleurs family for all they have done to make this possible for me, and SuperSport United for believing in me too.”
