Botswana defender Lesenya Ramoraka has stressed the importance of getting off to a good start in the COSAFA Cup.

Botswana, who have a fully fit squad, get their Group B campaign underway with a match against Angola at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium today (17h00).

Ramoraka is convinced Botswana can qualify for the quarterfinals ahead of their group rivals, which includes Malawi and Mauritius.

“It is very important that we win, if we are to have chances of advancing to the quarterfinals. We will fight with all [we have] to see ourselves through,” Ramoraka told COSAFA.com.

The Zebras' captain Alphonse Modisaotsile says they need to win the group and anything can happen once they get to the group stages.

“It is important to grind the results and win your group because in the knockout phase anything can happen.”

The two teams last met in a friendly game during the 2016 Botswana Independence Day celebrations and Botswana won 3-0 on penalties after the game finished 1-1.

The COSAFA Cup got underway yesterday with Group A matches. Madagascar beat Mozambique 2-1, while the Comoros and Seychelles played to a 1-1 draw.
