Hendo: European final loss ‘worst ever’

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says the club’s 2015/16 UEFA Europa League final defeat still haunts him, but hopes to put those ghosts to bed when they take on Real Madrid this evening.
The Reds succumbed to Sevilla in the final of Europe’s second tier club cup competition two years ago to miss out on their first piece of continental silverware since their UEFA Champions League success in 2004/05.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s European Cup final, Henderson said: “It’s the worst feeling ever losing a final.”
Henderson did, however, praise manager Jurgen Klopp for inspiring the team, even after the loss.
“I remember after the game the manager was obviously down but then when we got back to the hotel, he had something different about him,” he added.
“He had this sort of vision I felt that in the future we’d get to another final.
“He felt as though it could be a big moment in our careers – to learn from that experience. If we got to another final we’d be ready.
“At that moment I sensed he was confident about getting to another final.”
