KickOff.com selects a combined starting XI of the incredible performers between Liverpool and Real Madrid en route to the UEFA Champions League final in Kiev.

Liverpool and Real Madrid fired their way into the final of Europe's elite club competition with their incredible attacking quality as the two highest scoring side's this season.

The Reds have scored a record 40 goals during the 2017/18 campaign, while Real have netted 30 as they remain on course for a record 13th title.

However, the decision on the overall team is based on influence and the Who Scored statistical rating, which measures players performances out of 10.

Goalkeeper:

Keylor Navas gets the nod despite conceding 12 goals in 10 games and only keeping two clean sheets (four less than Loris Karius), due to his incredible displays during the knock-out stages.

With a 6.88 rating in Europe this season, the Costa Rican ousts the Reds stopper, who scored 6.55.

Defence:

Dani Carvajal slots in at right-back with a 7.59 rating, which is only bettered by Cristiano Ronaldo in the Los Blancos side.

At centre-back Real captain Sergio Ramos partners, the world-record defensive transfer Virgil van Dijk, who received ratings of 7.10 and 7.24 respectively this season.

Despite Virgil only playing five games, the Netherlands captain has won 4.2 aerial duels per game and enjoyed a passing percentage rate of 82% as a ball-playing centre-back.

Marcelo is selected at left-back as arguably the finest modern defender in Europe at the moment, his three goals and two assists were vital in the run-in towards the final.

Midfield:

The central midfield pairing of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric has been the cornerstone to Real's recent success in Europe, both players are regular features in the UEFA Champions League team of the Year and the FIFA World XI squads.

While James Milner's eight assists in 10 games make for fair reading, it would be irrational to omit two of the finest midfielders in the history of the LaLiga giants based on that metric.

On the flanks, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane make the cut as the African stars combined with 19 of the 40 goals the Reds scored in the competition this season.

Forwards:

With 10 goals and 15 goals respectively, the front pair selects itself, with Brazil star Roberto Firmino and five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo's 8.25 rating on who scored is the highest of any player from both sides, as he enjoyed a record-breaking campaign, scoring in every single group stage fixture.

While Firmino was close behind with 8.23, as he registered seven assists along with his impressive tally of goals.

Starting XI: Navas, Carvajal, Ramos, Virgil, Marcelo, Salah, Kroos, Modric, Mane, Firmino, Ronaldo
