Platinum Stars and Jomo Cosmos played to a 0-0 draw in their PSL Promotion/Relegation Play-off fixture at Moruleng Stadium on Wednesday night.
Stars opted to go with twin strikers in search of a win after ending on the losing side in their play-off opener against Black Leopards last week.
It was Cosmos with the strong start as they had the hosts under pressure with a succession of corners.
Of the two goalkeepers, Dino Visser was nearly left embarrassed when he came close to fumbling a long-range shot from Shakes Mkhabela on 15 minutes.
A few minutes later, Bonginkosi Ntuli managed to create space for himself to have a crack at goal, but Lesego Modiba narrowed the angle to pull off a fine save.
The all-around quality of play from both sides didn’t improve much in the second half, with wayward shots continuing to filter through from both sides.
The amount of goal-scoring chances were limited, although Tebogo Tlolane came the closest from a free-kick situation on 70 minutes but, in the end, failed to hit the target.
As the clock wound down, neither side showed any promise of grabbing a winner and thus settled for a share of the spoils.
Stars remain bottom of the three-team table with one point from their two matches, while Cosmos have two from two and Leopards sit top with four points.
