Yaya Toure refused to rule out a sensational move to Manchester United after revealing his desire to mentor and play alongside midfielder Paul Pogba.
Toure's eight-year stay at the Etihad has come to an end, leaving the Premier League champions with a legendary status after winning three league titles, three EFL Cup medals and the FA Cup.
And with speculation rife over his next move, the Ivory Coast international confirmed he'd love to remain in England at the highest level, playing European football.
With Michael Carrick announcing his retirement, Toure has refused to rule out extending his career at the Red Devils, despite the backlash he may receive from the Citizens faithful.
"Yeah he [Carrick] just left," Toure told Men Sport. "Let's see, let's see. I just want to say that definitely, I will continue to play at a high level - Champions League or Europa League.
"I don't rule big teams out. The big teams are very important for me. What they want to achieve, the way they want to go, for me is very important.
"It's going to be hard one day to play against City, but I have to do that. It is part of my job."
With Paul Pogba often drawing comparisons to the Citizens stalwart, Toure revealed his admiration for the France international, whom he feels he can guide to similar success he attained in the English top-flight.
"I love Paul Pogba," he said. "Pogba is the same size, power - but different in the way he wants to go.
"Technically as well, the ability to score goals as well. It is a player I want to play with, to be honest, just to teach him some things."
